Bio

Lance Stroll is a Canadian racing driver currently competing in Formula One for the Aston Martin F1 Team. Born and raised in Montreal, Stroll is the son of billionaire businessman Lawrence Stroll, owner of the Aston Martin F1 Team, and Belgian fashion designer Claire-Anne Callens.

Stroll began his motorsport journey at the age of 10 in competitive kart racing, achieving numerous regional and national titles. In 2010, he joined the prestigious Ferrari Driver Academy and transitioned to junior formulae in 2014. His early career highlights include winning the Italian F4 Championship in 2014, the Toyota Racing Series in 2015, and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2016.

Formula One Career

Stroll made his Formula One debut in 2017 with Williams at the Australian Grand Prix, partnering Felipe Massa. That year, he achieved a podium finish in Azerbaijan, becoming the second-youngest driver in F1 history to do so. After two seasons at Williams, Stroll moved to Racing Point in 2019, a team acquired by his father. In 2020, he earned his first pole position at the Turkish Grand Prix and secured podium finishes at the Italian and Sakhir Grands Prix.

In 2021, the team rebranded as Aston Martin, where Stroll partnered with four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel. Since 2023, he has been teammates with two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso. As of the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix, Stroll has achieved one pole position and three podium finishes in Formula One.

Junior Racing Career

Stroll began karting at age 10, excelling in both Canadian and North American competitions. In 2008, he won the Federation de Sport Automobile du Quebec rookie of the year award, followed by driver of the year honors in 2009. In 2014, Stroll debuted in car racing in the Florida Winter Series and won the Italian F4 Championship with Prema Powerteam.

Personal Life

Stroll is of Russian Jewish descent on his father's side and holds dual Canadian and Belgian citizenship. He is multilingual, fluent in English, French, Flemish, and Italian. Outside of Formula One, Stroll has competed in endurance events, including two editions of the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Making his F1 debut in 2017 with Williams Racing, Stroll became the second-youngest driver in the sport’s history at the time. That season, he delivered a sensational podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, cementing his reputation as a driver with a knack for performing under pressure.

In 2019, Stroll joined Racing Point, now known as the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team. His tenure with the team has been punctuated by memorable moments, including a dramatic pole position at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix and several podium finishes, demonstrating his versatility in both challenging wet and dry conditions.

Off-track, Stroll is recognized for his meticulous approach to preparation and commitment to continual growth. As a key driver for Aston Martin, he continues to strive for success, aiming to make his mark on the future of Formula 1.
